Illustration Friday : Ocean

Been awhile since I did another IF, and this one got all kinds of bad, funky 70′s weird. M’kay. :S

Illustration Friday - 'Ocean'

Illustration Friday: Space (coincidentally out there no one can hear you scream…)

It’s been awhile since I did an IF, and while I actually inked this piece (which is from the ’100 Bastards’ series) earlier this year, I decided to try some color out on it for the IF theme. In the end, went with a nice sickly monochromatic treatment, eek!

2 new Illos – more Eleven Magazine PDX

Last month I did an illustration of the band Justice for Eleven Magazine PDX.  This one got pretty funky, but I had a lot of fun with it!

And I just finished a new one for Eleven, this time a cover piece, featuring the band Phantogram.

Here’s a sneak peak at the final cover with type; love what Dustin did with this!

Eleven Magazine PDX

A few weeks ago the awesome people over at Eleven Magazine PDX asked me if I would do a short interview for them, as well as have one of my pieces put in a double spread on the inside cover of the magazine.  Of course I was down for it!  The March issue with the feature just came out last week.  You can pick one up for free at many music stores/hip joints around Portland.  If you are interested in the local music scene and general cool stuff going on in Portland, I highly recommend it!

It looks I will be doing a cover illustration for them sometime in the next few months, so stay tuned for that.

Here is a scan of the interview, and some not so great pics showing the double spread back covers. :)

“Love of Portland” show + oh yeah I sort of forgot I had a blog…

So, it’s been quite awhile since I updated the blog section of my site.  But I have been plenty busy.  I’ve been pretty good about keeping my Facebook page up to date with news.  I am going to get back to updating my blog.

First up, this is a piece I just finished for the “Love of Portland” show, opening this Saturday (Feb. 19th) at People’s Gallery, located at Pioneer Place, downtown Portland.  It’s going to be an awesome show, with over 150 artists sharing pieces showing their love for Portland.

This piece was a lot of work, but I think it turned out pretty cool.  I am probably going to be doing a small run (20) of gilcee prints of this.  More info to come soon!

It’s Mad Men week over at the Sketchery.  I wish I’d had more time to do more illustrations for the theme, since MM is one of my all time favorite shows, but I was able to pull this together.  I’d love to do some more Mad Men work in the future.

Villains Week, concluded.

Well, I do have one more that I would like to work on, but for the moment I’m going to leave it be and move on with other things.  To wrap things up:

More Villains Week

Oh yes, there’s more….  The wonderfully warm and fuzzy Nurse Ratched from “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

Villains Week continues with one of my favs, Col. Hans Landa.

It’s Villains Week!

Seeing as it’s ‘Favorite Villains’ week over at the Sketchery and I love, love, love villains, I’ve gone a bit crazy on this one and done a whole bench of ‘em.

I’ll also be posting these every day this week over on my Facebook page.  At the end of the week I’ll be doing a drawing (or more than one) for a free print of your favorite.  So stop on by!

After this, I really need to stop on the portraits for awhile…

Sketchery – Favorite Musicians Week

Oh lordy, I could have done an entire series for this week’s theme over at the Sketchery, sadly, time seems to keep moving, despite my best efforts.  What’s up with that??

‘Starvation Heights’ Centennial Event – prints

On top of the print I am already selling, I have created two new prints for the “Starvation Heights” Centennial, this Saturday in Olalla, Washington.

I will be there selling all 3 limited edition prints, plus some smaller swag.  If you happen to be in the area, stop by my table and say hi!

100 Bastards – Sentient Bastard

#88 here.  Big thanks to Brooke for not only giving me the idea for this one, but for getting me into Harlan Ellison, which this references very obviously one of Ellison’s short stories. (bonus points to anyone who comments with the name of the story; Brooke is exempt however :P )

100 Bastards – Caesar Bastard

It’s been quite awhile since I posted any 100 Bastards stuff, especially new pencils.  I have been a little sidetracked from the project the past few months, but I am back to it, and hoping to finish up the sketches as soon as I can.  I believe this makes #87.

Think I’ll have another one up tonight!

Sketchery – Star Trek week

It’s Star Trek theme week over at the Sketchery and I definitely could not pass this one up!

For all you John de Lancie/Q homies out there.
